Platforms

Files are provided as platform-agnostic .ZIP files, usable under most platforms.

For Macintosh users: If you are using a pre-OSX system, please install version 5 or higher of Stuffit Expander for the Macintosh (free for downloading). Recent versions of Stuffit Expander can decode .ZIP files - however, after decompression, you may find that the files aren't recognized by EndNote. To fix these files, press down the Shift key as you select Open from the File menu; the *.ENL is now visible, and can be opened.
Note: Beginning with MacOS X 10.3 (also known as Panther), the .ZIP file format is natively recognized, and can be decompressed by just double clicking. The OSX versions of EndNote should open these files without issue.

Windows users: Most Windows machines are equipped to use the .ZIP format. However, Stuffit Expander is also available for Windows, and can be used to decode and decompress the Stuffit/Binhexed files. We have transitioned to using the *.ENL file extension for compatibility with EndNote for Windows.

File Formats

Please read About the File Formats for detailed information about each file type.

The whole database is presented as separate files for EndNote™ - we have used EndNote version 9 - and Refer/BibIX.

Update releases contain both versions encoded into a single archive; you may discard the one you don't need.
